It may seem like I talk about fitness and your fitness journey a lot on this blog, but that’s because I believe it’s such a huge part of your life. And incorporating fitness into your daily life is so vital, but it’s also easy to make simple mistakes and end up injured and having to take a step back. Before that happens, there are important steps to take so you can reach your goals and see results (versus working out for years and never making any progress).

Small Goals Equal Bigger Progress

You should never try and lose a huge amount of weight as soon as you start exercising. Believe me, you will hit a wall, get frustrated, and be more inclined to give up quicker. Instead, make small yet gradual changes and adapt your life to a lifestyle that you know you will follow. Perhaps getting up at 5am to go to the gym is out of your league and something you will eventually give up on. Start out by walking, biking, purchasing an at home workout program, something outside of your realm but not too intense off the bat.

Schedule in Your Workouts

Buy a planner or download an app! Whichever way you want to track yourself, make sure that you fit in daily exercises into your schedule. If you mark it down and check the workout off as you go, you might find that you can commit better to achieve your fitness journey. Also, be mindful of your time frame and your goals and what you can and cannot complete in a day. Give yourself grace–an attitude full of grace will manage your strengths and weaknesses kindly. Be gentle with your body and be aware of your energy levels throughout the day. Perhaps you notice that you have more energy at 6pm versus 6am. Figure out what you can handle and not what your best friend does.

Plan Ahead for Your Journey

It’s vital that you stick to your routine in order to see results. If you do not stick to your routine then you may find it even harder to workout and stay on track and above your weaknesses. Maybe laying out your clothes and workout equipment and figuring out what workout to do beforehand will set you up for a better workout when you begin.  Also make sure you have the proper shoes and clothes to make you feel good and prepared for your workout. For example, if you need some running shoes then look up the best 5k running shoes so that your feet are well supported to carry you through your goals.

Find a Workout Buddy

Maybe finding a workout partner is one way you can stick to your workouts and actually find them enjoyable (if this is something you struggle with). Find someone who can help you exercise more effectively and make a commitment. Also, find someone who has a similar fitness level as you. This can be fun as well as maybe set some competition.

Hire a Trainer

If you know that you are the kind of person who needs some help getting motivated to do things, then it may be worth you hiring a personal trainer. Hiring a trainer will give you the support you need, the motivation necessary to get it done, as well as scheduled workouts so you’ll always know what to do next. Besides, if you have no clue where to begin with working out, investing in some personal training courses might be the best option for you to get a good start on your fitness endeavors.

Keep in mind, a fitness journey is more than a month. It’s a lifestyle and a lifetime commitment!
