I enjoy every single aspect of staying home with my children. Not once have I ever regretted the sacrifice that comes with a single income household and enriching the lives of my children by being present with them. However, I think it’s safe to admit that sometimes it can be a lonely time and difficult especially if you worked prior to having children. Both sides have their challenges and demands. But being a stay at home mom can make you quickly forget who you are and were before children.
It’s no joke when people say your brain turns into a blob after children. The constant questions and demands don’t necessarily stimulate the brain and you might need something else besides cleaning up after tiny humans all day long and and folding laundry. Below are a few outlets for the stay at home mom.
Tips on being a stay at home mom
Get Your Hands Dirty
Growing a garden is a great therapy technic. Not only are you taking care of your mental health, but also investing in your family and helping out with the grocery haul from your backyard. Plus, showing your kids that you can grow right in your backyard is a great way to show them the beauty of science and nature at work. It also gives you an outlet and something else to do besides focusing on children.
Trading
Perhaps you fancy something a little bit more intense, something that might even pay. Then, have you considered trading? Home-based trading has grown in popularity over the last couple of years with more and more people dabbling in markets and commodities. Trading from home has never been easier or more accessible with a wide-ranging number of apps, platforms and systems such as Metatrader 5, available for you to trade from. You don’t have to trade in high values or risky transactions. Take some time learning the markets, to understand how everything works and start small. It doesn’t have to be all about profit, especially not when you are getting started.
Workout
Along with the expansion of home-based trading, at-home workouts have seen a surge in popularity also. If the demands of being a stay at home mom mean you are house-bound or in charge of children, most of the day getting to the gym may not be possible. There are countless of options on YouTube and other online sources that offer at home workouts for free. Thanks to the rise in online streaming you can now take part in real-time workouts from the comfort of your own home. Alternatively, you can access on-demand services such as Beachbody or Les Mills. Whatever works for you.
Keeping fit is not only a great way to give you a little ‘me time’ as a stay at home parent but will also give your mental and physical health the boost it needs. A workout does wonders for your mental health. Whenever I feel down in the dumps after a rough night or a long day, I grab my shoes and workout a sweat. It’s an immediate mood lifter.
Start a Blog
Blogging is another great alternative to get your creative juices up and flowing again. There are paid opportunities as well if you’re looking for that avenue. Plus if you’re looking for an online community of likeminded people, you might be surprised who you might end up connecting with.
We live in an day and age with multiple opportunities to grow in any possible way. Almost every opportunity is just a simple Google search away and you’ll have more ideas than you can even process. Staying home with your children is the greatest reward of all time. It doesn’t have to be something you feel all alone in. And remember this, even if you feel like you lost your zest and “color” right now, you will get it back. Children have a sweet way of draining you out a bit. But it’s a drain I wouldn’t trade the world for! Next time you meet a stay at home mom, cheer her on for her great work… because it often goes unnoticed.
