Just like with everything else, it’s normal for your workouts to get a bit sluggish and boring even. Or maybe you keep working out and you’re not seeing the results you’d like to see. If your current workout schedule isn’t really cutting it for you, then it might be a good idea to add intensity or change things up. There are plenty of things you can do to up your workout game and add a new spin to your regimen.

Compound and Combine

By combining different workouts together and compounding your workouts, you’ll be able to up your intensity and feel the benefits. It’s definitely something that you should work on if you haven’t yet. There are lots of ways to do this and it depends on what kind of workouts you’re doing. If you’re not sure how to get it right, simply find a personal trainer to work with who can guide you.

A compound exercise works multiple muscle groups at the same time. For example, a squat works the quads, glutes, and calves. Or you can mix it up and do two compound exercises that combine two exercises and target even more muscles (a lunge with a bicep curl).

Change Your Weights

This is something I always go for. If I feel like my workouts are not up to speed and I am not feeling drained and done by the end, then it’s time to increase the weights. Heavier weights will also burn more fat and rev up your metabolism. Plus, you’ll achieve results and build muscles, all which will burn fat and give you results over time. Remember, change is good and healthy.

Run Up Hills

Running up hills is a good way to increase the intensity of your running. If you’re used to running on the streets or on a treadmill, you’ll notice the difference once you start trying uphill running. It’s a completely different challenge and it’s certainly a lot more intense than the other types of running you’ve experienced up to now. It’s a true workout and it adds variety to your schedule too.

You can also try and add a weighted vest if you need just a little bit more. Changing your cardio is always a good option since your body can get set into a workout routine easily. It’s always wise to change up your routine and either add a few new moves or slightly adjust what you’re already doing.

Supplement when Necessary

There are plenty of good supplement options on the market, but which ones are right for you will depend heavily on what you’re trying to achieve. You can head to steelsupplements.com if you want to find out more about the range of options on the market. They can be useful for increasing your stamina, making it more possible for you to sustain more intense workouts from day to day. Sometimes a weight issue can be solved with the right supplement or perhaps a decrease in energy needs a boost of vitamin B12. There are plenty of options and you should be aware and outweigh the costs.

Get a Workout Buddy

Having a friend or family member workout with you is a great way to keep you on track to show up daily. There is something about accountability and maybe some competition that can push you beyond your limits. Plus, when your friend shows up, you cannot let them down so you have to get yourself there too! In addition, this can make working out more fun.

It can definitely be a good idea to increase the intensity of your workouts if you feel like you haven’t been pushing yourself hard enough lately. You don’t want to become too lazy or complacent because that’s when things get too easy and you begin to settle.
