So has anyone found a “new normal” yet? Has the lock down finally eased up for your state? I recently moved to a much more lenient state and it feels good to have some freedom back and fire up my motivation again.

And has anyone gotten so used to chilling at home in sweats, sans bra, no real schedule and doing whatever you want? Or have you become completely stir crazy, ready to leave your family and escape to a private island with no return flight?

Also, how’s your motivation for fitness going? Are you still following a strict workout regimen and making progress? Or do you find yourself on the couch watching TV and eat junk food more than you should?

There’s a healthy balance all around when it comes to working out and taking a break. However, maintaining your motivation is so important if you are going to keep up with workouts and meet your fitness goals. There are a lot of different ways to boost motivation, but tracking your workouts is one of the best ways to do it. When you have a clear idea of how you are progressing, it pushes you to keep going. It’s okay to break for a little bit, but don’t take too long of breaks or else you’ll have a harder time to ease back into a schedule.

Motivation #1: Follow A Workout Plan

Following a workout plan is a great way to get a clear idea of how you are progressing. There are some great plans out there, like this body goals journal. There is a different workout for each day. You can find plenty of workout plans to follow online as well. When you follow a plan and tick each workout off, you can look back and see just how far you have come. It also makes life easier for you with zero planning and/or finding a workout to do. Plus there’s a mental accountability for yourself to keep you on track and not give up.

Motivation #2: Weigh Yourself

Weighing yourself is the most obvious way to track your workout. As you see the pounds fall, it will give you a motivation boost. Make sure that you invest in a good set of scales and weigh yourself at the same time of day each. When you have a weekly record of your weight, it’s easy to see if your workouts have plateaued so you can change things up. It’s vital to keep a variety with your workouts

Motivation #3: Fitness Tracker

Fitness trackers are so great because accountability is key while fighting for your goals. Running with a fitness tracker will do more than track your speed,  it’ll keep a record of calories burned, heart rate, and much more. Some of the best fitness trackers allow you to put in details about your diet and provide you with a full breakdown of your entire fitness routine.

Motivation #4: Write A Workout Diary

A workout diary is a great way to chart the mental effects of exercise as well as the physical progress that you are making. Documenting your strengths and weaknesses is so helpful to staying on track. Plus, it’s great to go back and see where you improved over time.

If you desire to see progress and make improvement, then it’s important to stay on top of your routine and fight for what you want. A healthy, strong body doesn’t develop overnight. It takes months and often years of real dedication and time. The best advice I can give you is to keep pushing, keep going, and and listen to your body at all times.

Once you start keeping track of your workout progress, you will find it so much easier to keep up with your routine.
